3 signs you have explosive anger

Written by , Posted in Your Church, Your Family

1. Do you need to apologize a lot?

2. Do you rely on yelling to correct (because it’s what others are
used to)?

3. Do you make excuses for your explosive anger by saying, “It’s
just who I am?”

If any of these are true of you, you probably have a problem with explosive anger.

You know who the people are around you who have explosive anger. You often see people tip toeing around them, cowering in fear or just feeling awkward when the angry person is blowing up at someone else.

They try to justify their sin by saying, “Maybe I lose my temper a lot, but at least I get it all out of my system and don’t carry a grudge.”

It only took 2 generations for human beings to see the worst in explosive anger. Cain got so mad that he killed his own brother. But you will note that God never excuses his sin (or anyone else’s) based on their personality.

Ephesians 4:31 says, “Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice.”

We are to get rid of it all!

To find some help in getting rid of your explosive anger, pay close attention to the wisdom from Proverbs (below). Also, I covered this subject in a recent sermon and I’ll be blogging more about it in the days to come.

A fool gives full vent to his anger, but a wise man quietly holds it back (Proverbs 29:11).

Good sense makes a man slow to anger, and it is his glory to overlook an offense (Proverbs 19:11).

A soft answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger (Proverbs 15:1).

He who is slow to anger has great understanding, but he who has a quick temper, demonstrates his stupidity (Proverbs 14:29).
